‘Celebrating 175 years of Thomas Cook’
We were very fortunate and honoured to be invited by Thomas Cook to participate in a landmark event in the History of their company. Year 6 were given the opportunity of taking part in a special celebration of 175 since its establishment. This involved catching the train at the Great Central Railway from Leicester North to Loughborough station where there was a special reception, including a performance by a Living History Group, an exhibition and games. The trip took place on Tuesday 5th July 2016.
Thomas Cook kindly paid the full cost of the trip. There was media presence and we were very proud of the children who spoke to BBC News East Midlands. It was a wonderful opportunity for the school to be involved in such a wonderful event hosted by a locally established company.
Thank you to Thomas Cook, NEXT and the Nottingham Building Society.
Year 6 pupils and staff were invited to Beaumont Leys School for a special visit by the authors "The Two Steves" (Barlow and Skidmore). Their lively and entertaining readings of their I-hero books using a game format and audience participation enthralled the children.
