The World Around Us - A walk to our allotment to look at plants and flowers

Our Gruffalo Walk - We had great fun in our nature area, looking for the Gruffalo, making stick houses for the mouse, listening to stories and practising mindfulness

Pancake Making and Tasting

                                                                          Spring 2 Term

 

This half term we will be continuing with our topic of “Amazing Animals".

 

We will be talking about and looking at different types of animals and where they live.

We will be learning about a variety of different celebrations some of which will include Pancake Day, World Book Day, Comic Relief, Mother's Day and also Easter 

 

We will celebrate and share our experiences of different celebrations, take part in a variety of cultural activities, try different foods, listen to different kinds of music and learn new songs.

 

In Literacy we will be learning to:

Read "sight words" using a rhyme "we see the word, we say the word"

Write our names using the cursive script

Starting to read and write words by  blending and segmenting the sounds in simple words

Hearing and saying the sounds we can hear in words

Beginning to learn some of the sounds which different letters make

Starting to write simple sentences

 

In Maths we will be learning to:

Recognise numbers 1 to 20 and then beyond

Reliably counting objects to 10 and then beyond

Add to groups of objects together and finding the total

Begin to use the vocabulary relating to addition such as add, more and altogether

Begin to use vocabulary relating to subtraction such as minus, takes and  less.

Looking at sharing and estimating.

Learning the names of 3d shapes.

Spring Term Families Day - Making Animal Masks

                                                                        Spring 1

 

This half term our topic will be “Amazing Animals”.

 

We will be talking about Pets, wild animals and farm animals.

 

We will celebrate and share our experiences of different celebrations, take part in a variety of cultural activities, try different foods, listen to different kinds of music and learn new songs.

Autumn 2 Term

 

The first half of the second term we will be continuing with our topic of “Magnificent Me”.

During the second half of the term our focus will be "Celebrations" in particular the celebration of Christmas.

 

We will be talking about ourselves and our senses.

We will be learning about a variety of different celebrations some of which will include Diwali, Bonfire Night, Remembrance Day and Christmas.

 

We will celebrate and share our experiences of different celebrations, take part in a variety of cultural activities, try different foods, listen to different kinds of music and learn new songs. 

 

In literacy we will be learning to:

Autumn 1 Term

 

Our topic this half term is “Magnificent Me”

 

We will be talking about ourselves, our homes and our families. The children will have the opportunity to be creative, drawing, painting, collaging representations of themselves and their families.

 

We will explore and celebrate similarities and differences about the way we look, our families and where we live. We will share books about starting school, families and homes.

 

We will be exploring number and shape, inside and outside of the classroom. We will be singing number songs, counting objects and exploring numbers 1 to 10.
