At Wolsey House Primary School, we believe that literacy is fundamental to pupils’ academic success and personal development. The ability to read fluently, write effectively and communicate confidently enables children to access the full curriculum and participate fully in school life and the wider world. We are committed to developing pupils who are articulate speakers, enthusiastic readers and confident writers.

The aim of literacy teaching at Wolsey House Primary School is to ensure that all pupils develop strong reading, writing and spoken language skills. We strive for pupils to become fluent readers who can understand, analyse and enjoy a wide range of texts, writers who can communicate ideas clearly and accurately for different purposes and audiences, and speakers who can express themselves confidently and listen respectfully to others. Literacy skills are promoted across the curriculum so that pupils can apply them in all areas of learning.
