Autumn term 2020

The Bumblebees have had a really busy half term. We have settled well into our new classes and have worked very hard.

In Literacy we have learnt new poems, made fruit kebabs, jam sandwiches, written instructions and revisited our phonic sounds.

In maths we have been learning about numbers. We have learnt the greater than and less than symbols, compared amounts and numbers, ordered numbers and learnt one more and one less.

In science, we have investigated our senses and have performed many experiments. We have looked at our bodies and found out where our different organs are.

We have had a great time at Forest School with Mrs Jackson

The Big Question for Autumn 2

Autumn 2

The Bumblebees have had another  busy half term. We have been working really hard in our class, having fun and doing exciting things.

In Literacy, we have been learning about adjectives and conjunctions. We have been describing traditional tale characters using adjectives and writing letters using conjunctions (because and and).

In Phonics we have now learnt all our phase 3 phonic sounds and are using them when we read and write.

In maths we have been using new pieces of equipment to help us. We have been using part whole models, number lines and tens frames. We have been using tens frames to help us solve addition calculations. We have also been using number lines to find the difference between two numbers and solve subtraction calculations.

In science, we have investigated materials. OUR BIG QUESTION was

"Will a paper hat keep me dry, why?"

We looked at different materials and investigated what things were made of. We discovered that paper was not waterproof so it wouldn't keep us dry. We made pigs out of salt dough.

In RE, we have been sharing special stories and beliefs. We learnt the story of Rama and Sita , which is a special Hindu story and we learnt the story of Noah's Ark which is a special Catholic and Christian story.

In PSHE, we have been celebrating each others similarities and differences. We have also been talking about what bullying is and why it is wrong.

We have been working hard at the Forest school.
