WELCOME TO THE FOXES CLASS

Welcome to Foxes Class

Welcome to the Foxes! We are a warm, nurturing and vibrant class where every child is supported to grow in confidence, communication and independence. We learn through a mixture of structured teaching, sensory exploration, real-life experiences and lots of repetition and visual support to help pupils feel secure and successful.

Our Class Teacher is Mrs Blackmore.

Our Class Teaching Assistants are:
Mrs Gamble, Mrs Sama, Mrs Paneri, Mrs De Souza, Mrs Vaid, Mr Powell and Mrs Smith.

We are all looking forward to a very exciting year ahead. We have lots to learn and lots of exploring to do! 🦊

Every Child is an Individual

In Foxes, we celebrate each child as a unique learner. Every child has a personalised curriculum, tailored to their needs, interests and stage of development.

We use PIVATS to assess where each child is working and to set small, manageable and meaningful targets. These targets are reviewed and updated each term so we can track progress closely and celebrate every success — no matter how big or small.

This ensures every child experiences achievement, pride and a sense of belonging in our classroom.

What We Are Learning This Half Term

This half term our class book is The Jolly Postman.

We will be sharing the story daily through:

  • Sensory story sessions with props and repeated language

  • Role play and turn-taking activities

  • Makaton signing and communication boards

  • Exploring real letters, envelopes and stamps

Linked activities include:

  • Setting up our own Post Office role play area

  • Posting letters around school and delivering messages

  • Mark-making and writing cards and simple letters (at each child’s level)

  • Sorting and matching characters and items from the story

  • Craft activities such as making post bags, postcards and character puppets

Our focus is on communication, joining in, sharing experiences and developing independence at each child’s stage of learning.

Weekly Learning Routine

Day Activity What Children Need
Monday Forest School A warm coat and a change of shoes/boots
Wednesday PE Please wear comfortable clothing such as leggings/joggers and trainers
Thursday Cooking No additional items needed — ingredients are provided

We also use our outdoor area daily, so please make sure all clothing is named.

Everyday Essentials

Please send your child to school with:

  • A named water bottle

  • A named healthy snack (e.g. fruit, crackers, yoghurt tube)

These help children stay hydrated and ready for learning throughout the day.

Communication & Independence

In Foxes, communication is central to everything we do.
We support children using:

  • Makaton signing

  • Visual timetables and photos

  • Objects of reference

  • Intensive Interaction

  • Choice-making and independence routines

We are also developing dressing skills, tidying up, and confidence in daily routines.

Working Together

You can follow our learning journey on Seesaw, where we share photographs, updates and suggestions to support learning at home.

If you ever have any questions, please come and speak to us — we are always happy to help.

We are excited to share this story and the adventures it brings. We can’t wait to see our Foxes grow, explore and shine 🦊
